Ardmore Open Farm and Mini Zoo sits a little outside County Cork but if you are from Cobh, the 50 minute drive eastbound is worth it. Especially if you have a kid.
There are lots of play areas starting with this indoor playground just after the entrance. This place can host birthday parties with food, drink and zoo/farm visit included. In the same vicinity, there’s also a small coffee shop that serves both snack and hot food.
Before i go further, let me also say that grown ups are most welcome and would enjoy their visit here too.
The mini zoo housed many small animals and there are closed and open enclosures too for both the big and small. There’s a pet area for kids on assigned times, and the petable animal varies (we have guinea pigs on our day of visit).
In between viewing of these animals, there are outdoor playground for kids to enjoy just like the one picture below.
The lemur colony on this plein air enclosure gives us a better look on how they react in this quasi social environment. Acres of green areas like this are home to many animals that are not in danger of jumping over or destroying the enclosed wires. For more info on animals on the farm, check their website or contact them beforehand.
The beautiful Whiting Bay on the background can be seen from the Adventure Maze, again another play area within the Ardmore farm compound. There’s soccer, karts, barrel train, sandpit, slide and other fun stuffs along the trail too.
If weather is an issue, one can always pass the time at the covered Crazy Golf and Mechanical Diggers. The combination of play and see animals is definitely a winning day for moms and dads who want to take their kids out.
And lastly, if you have extra time to explore, i would recommend checking out the town of Ardmore for the beach and Christian history.
