Christmas vibes has arrived in the streets of Cobh! This lovely seatown in the south end of Ireland is sure to charm its way into your heart this winter. The Cobh Town Centre at night is a dazzling display of christmas lights and decors and it is highlighted by the tall and litted christmas tree at Casement Square.
The streets are adorned with hanging lights and trees are bedecked with ornaments and bulbs. Shops glitters on their window and the pubs and restaurants have their own way of enlivening the christmas spirit too.
The waterfront location of Kennedy Park is a bright spot in the distance. If you go upclose, the Victorian bandstand is all christmasy and grandeury with its flowing lights. The park also has a beautiful Christmas tree near the Titanic Experience building and a welcoming hearty lights at its two gated entrance. This park will soon be the venue for the December 11 and 12 Christmas Market.
Across the street from the park promenade is the brightest street of the Town Centre. The Casement Square street block is the center of all christmas attraction in Cobh. Standing tall and proud is the towering christmas tree of lights, literal actual lights. Lighted on 21st November 2021, the christmas tree lighting has been an annual event in Cobh to kick off the Christmas and Holiday season.
Another shot (pic below) of the historic Casement Square, the block is lined with glittering trees. There’s also the Lusitania Memorial and the lifesize statues that look up to the Christmas tree right in front. During the lighting ceremony, this place was packed with choir, the crowd and the organizers of the event.
It’s been another eventful year in Cobh. It’s been good because our town has bagged the prestigious Tidiest Large Town in Ireland in the recent Tidy Towns award. On the other hand, there’s still the lingering effects of Covid and its restrictions. But at any case, Cobh has a resilient community that continues to try to normalize things as precautionary as possible.
This christmas display in our Town Centre is a way to keep the spirt of Christmas alive. If you live close to our town or visiting in Cork Ireland or just want to see this display in video, you are very much welcome to check and walk on our humble streets and experience that christmas feeling in your heart.
